Work from office scenario: How to deal with pressurizing roles and responsibilities while working in a job

Hi everyone. In my previous article I shared few of my tips to manage ever increasing job pressures along with prioritizing yourself hand in hand. But I know many of us would be thinking that this might be easy when you talk about these tips while you are working from home. But now that entire world is getting free from Lockdown and that everything is opening up right from the school of your kids, your gym and dance sessions, Restaurants and Movie theatres, Travel destinations and of course our corporates and office workplaces.

Our offices and our workplaces are always busy and will always be but this does not put an end to our personal life. And believe me, not just professional life, personal life was/ is and will always be busy as well and somehow, we all are struggling to fit or prioritize ourselves and trying to balance ourselves between our personal and professional lives. Honestly in the act of balancing, we sometimes succeed personally or sometimes professionally or sometimes equally to both. But where are YOU? Do you call yourself personal or do you call yourself professional? You are just yourself and you never find time to cherish yourself (who you are)

So let’s discuss some tips where you can keep some distance from both professional and personal arenas and explore or pamper yourself

  • Always give it a shot to wake up at least 15 minutes earlier then your usual alarm time and gradually increase up to at least half an hour. Do you know that first 15 minutes of your starting day really decides the goodness of your day? These 15 minutes work like wonders in planning your entire day and kicks in motivation. Remember if you will be late than your usual time then you are already running late on everything and the more you will try to hurry up, more it will trigger frustration and anger. More chances are that you may end up skipping your breakfast which will swing your moods after some time making you feel more miserable. Or some other days you will forget carrying your charger or your lunch. So, you got my point- Early to bed and early to rise but just 15 minutes earlier reserved only for YOU. These 15 minutes are just entitled to yourself which may include positive affirmations/ planning for your entire day/ your daily 2-minute prayer, may be a 5-minute meditation etc. Post these 15 minutes, if you decide to wake up at least half an hour earlier than your normal schedule then you can utilize this half an hour for freshening up/ daily exercise/ for sipping a cup of tea/ coffee/ small walk in the park/ admiring birds on your windows, listening to your favourite music even if it is for 5 minutes etc. So, in summary, Early to Bed and Early to Rise is a key
  • Now comes a point where everybody of us travel to workplaces which also consume a lot of time. Believe me, you can also make maximum use of this. When you are not driving yourself to office or back from office to home, then you can listen to your favourite music, plan your day ahead, admire nature outside or observe the people whom you can look outside the windows of your vehicle and feel how fortunate you are. The idea here is to not to spend time on your phone or thinking about your office work and colleagues because anyways this will be continued once you reach office
  • While you reach back office, take appropriate breaks to unwind yourself. Remember when you take a break then you are on a break from office while sitting in office. So, the idea is not to back bitch about the colleagues or about the work in your break time. I will highly recommend avoiding such conversations or gossips when you are sitting with your colleagues in your break time. Else such conversations will not unwind you from the stuffs from which you have taken a break. Instead in this break time, try and read any of your favourite book (you can also read that online nowadays), or listen to your favourite song or go for a walk and take a big circle around your office. Believe me, this is going to energize you to the core
  • Coming to fitness, if you have an early morning job and if you don’t find time sweating yourself then I may suggest enjoying your happy hours in your office itself post your office ends. And if your office starts in the noon time then hit your office an hour earlier for your fitness. But enjoying your happy hours does not always mean gyming only. It may also mean engaging yourself in many of the physical activities that you love. For example- Dancing/ Playing basketball or any sporty thing that you like
  • The next important thing posts your office ends is to cut yourself off from your phone or any gadgets. Whether you believe or not, phones and internets taxes us a lot if you talk about time. It happens with me that I go to the internet searching something and then land somewhere else and will find myself caught in the web and then little that I will come to know, I have reached my house and oops my entire time gone on my phone (a dead web) whereas I could have leveraged this time to my self-pampering
  • Coming back to home, always remember to avoid bringing office work/ frustration back into circles. You must learn difference between important and urgent issues and respond accordingly. Post office time is your time for yourself and family. Have a healthy dinner and go out for a family walk for 10-15 minutes. Believe me, it will energize you.

What would you choose?
