Let’s begin with my Hometown, Ajmer, Rajasthan

As soon as you hear Ajmer, one thing which comes in your mind is Dargah Sharif and Pushkar. But that’s just not it all. Let’s try to explore more amazing facts for Ajmer. Ajmer is a city located in North region state of Rajasthan. Ajmer has seen tremendous growth in terms of city makeover and financial growth as well. Ajmer is also famous for Tourism as well

Climatic conditions in Ajmer, I would say is extreme. Starting from March the climate will be pleasant but will start becoming hot day by day and while you will land up in April/ May/ June and July, it would get extremely hot with heat waves all around. You may expect some rainfall either in June/ July or August, but it varies due to ever changing climatic conditions. Then from August to mid of October, Ajmer would be Hot (not as hot as May/ June or July but still hot) along with humidity as well. From mid of October to end of November, climate will start getting pleasant and you will feel like neither it is hot and nor it is cold. Climate will now get colder day by day. From December to January, it would be extreme cold, and you would love to wear warm clothes like Jackets/ Hoodies/ Sweaters and shawls etc. This extreme cold weather will continue until mid of Jan and then cold will reverse and it will start getting pleasant until you reach March

So, best time to visit Ajmer is either from October until end of November or from Mid of January until beginning of March. If you want to enjoy eating ice cream during winters, then you can visit Ajmer during December and January

Now let’s see what all places you can visit while you are in Ajmer which can add flavour to your travel

1) Dargah Sharif: This is one of the most awaited places to visit when someone visits Ajmer. This is just 2 kms away from Ajmer’s central Railway Station. This is basically a religious pilgrimage which is open to all the people who has faith in Dargah Sharif. This was named after a Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti. There is a strong belief of this pilgrimage stating ” Jumme Raat Bhari Murad”. And believe me this is true, and I had all my wishes granted here. Anyone who has any wish, they visit Dargah sharif on Friday and tie a thread of belief to one of these little holes on the window. All these threads are collected by saints on Friday night and then prayers (Namaz) are performed to ensure all the wishes are granted

2) Pushkar: Pushkar is the city in Ajmer district of Rajasthan. it is basically 45 minutes to an hour away from Ajmer. You can either hire a private car or you can also go by bus as lots of buses (once in every 15 minutes) travel to Pushkar. Pushkar is famous for Brahma Temple which is the only Brahma temple in the entire world. Apart from Brahma temple, you will find these Ghats (riverbanks of Saraswati). This lake is now greatly transformed as “Chaupatti” where people of every age group come and visit and spend some “me time” or “Family time” near the beautiful waves of Anasagar Lake. This was earlier located in “Vaishali Nagar” area of Ajmer. However, it’s beauty is now stretched to other locations as well which is fruitful for Ajmer Tourism. There are all sorts of eateries outside the Anasagar Lake, and you can really have a blast

4) Foy Sagar Lake: Foy Sagar Lake is also an artificial lake built in Ajmer and most of the schools and parents take their children out for picnic spot. However, it is not that maintained as Anasagar lake is maintained

5) Adai Din ka Jhopra: Beyond Dargah Sharif, on the outskirts of Ajmer, a mosque is situated which is known as Adai din ka Jhopra and it is also one of the famous places to visit in Ajmer. It is named as such because the construction only took two and a half days

6) Victoria Jubilee Clock Tower: It is in Hathi Bhata area of Ajmer, which is the busiest part of Ajmer during running hours. It is created in indo-islamic architectural styles. To see this, you don’t need to visit this. Instead, you would be able to see the same whenever you will cross that area. Believe me, as I said that Hathi Bhata is the central and busiest area, you are bound to cross that area wherever you are going

7) Daulat Bag Gardens: This garden is located near and on the banks of Ana Sagar Lake. This is really a big garden where you can enjoy with your family and have some picnic time. Coming to Best Places for food and to binge on, I would say that there are so many food options available here for all sorts of cultures and various cuisines as well. You can have food either in restaurants or cafes or malls or you may also enjoy street food also. You can enjoy chaat, Burgers and Pizzas, Chinese noodles and Momo’s, Italian pastas, home style North Indian Thalis, South Indians Idli Sambhar/dosa and Uttapams, Rajasthan’s Dal bhaati Churma etc. You can find this food in the wide variety of both Veg and Non-Veg flavours as well.

Coming to Street Food, it not only tastes well but it is even pocket friendly. Please do eat curry kachori because this is the prime street food for almost all the Ajmerites. For street food, you can visit either Churi Bazar and Purani Mandi which will serve best of street foods there.

Now coming to the most important topic for women and of course for men as well- Shopping. Again, you can enjoy shopping both on streets and in the malls. On streets, you may visit Churi Bazaar for buying good quality bangles on cheap prices. These bangles could be either ethnic/ office wear or daily wear. You may visit Naya bazaar, nala bazaar, Madar gate and Purani Mandi. on all these places you would be able to shop mostly ethnic and traditional attire. I would say that all these places are good to shop for ethnic clothing and footwear but if you are looking for trendy western clothing then these places are not suitable enough. For this, you need to check out malls in Ajmer.
